In September, the students Carlotta, Christina, Laila, Michelle, and Sophia from the Karl-Rehbein-Schule in Hanau won the Schaeffler company prize in this year’s b@s videochallenge: a visit to the Schaeffler factory in Hirschaid and a climb up a wind turbine!

On a sunny day in October, the group went up, up, up. First, the students were equipped with climbing gear and helmets, they went up the elevator inside the wind turbine, and then they climbed the last bit up some ladders. Each of them was rewarded with a breathtaking view of Franconia in the fall.

After dinner together in Bamberg, the girls went the next day to take a look behind the gates of the Schaeffler factory in Hirschaid. They were greeted by Alexander Fuchs (Industrial Engineering, Operations BU VTS) and Thomas Ballack (Environmental Protection at Schaeffler in Hirschaid) and then donned safety boots and toured the production line and equipment. 

As the final item on the agenda, the group visited the factory’s bees and taste tested Schaeffler’s delicious honey and took a gander at the flowering field on the premises, all in line with the focus of their winning video: sustainability.
